Scouts Expedition & a Survival Camp

Date: 10th Oct 2023 Author: Rick Hooper

In the last month we’ve had Meteor Troop head out for an exciting Survival Camp!  Learning how to cook rabbit, making shelters AND sleeping in them…

From all accounts they had a brilliant time and defiantly something for the younger sections to look forward to.

Our Typhoon Air Scout Troop sent their older Scouters out to gain their Expedition Challenge Award in the New Forest!  A two day event where they had to plan the routes, the meals, and the kit.  Not an easy task at any age.

For some of them this was their final challenge to get the coveted Chief Scouts Gold Award – an incredible achievement that takes a lot of effort both in and out of Scouting sessions, and is the highest award Scouts can earn.

HM King Charles III has been confirmed as our new Patron, a great honour for UK Scouts.

The King continues a long tradition of the monarch giving their Patronage, dating back to 1912. This was when Scouts was granted its Royal Charter and HM George V became our first Patron.
